From the moment the release of the original Diablo III Passed nearly two years. Much has changed in the game since then (she even managed to visit the console of the past generation now), and the release of the plot addition is becoming a kind of crown of this two -year evolution Reaper of Souls, adding a new plot act. That is why today’s review will be dedicated to how the game has changed over these two years, in principle, without looking at exactly what kind of change the addition brought directly.
On all four sides
Well, let’s start with the most banal and understandable – with a new (fifth in a row) act that the addon brings with it. The plot justification for the continuation of the massacre even after the death of the most important reptile (however, it is worth noting that this death is another) is the fact that a new insidious villain – the angel of death Maltael comes out of the shadow of the shadow. He once again wants to kill all people. True, for the sake of the supposedly good goal – the end of all wars and gaining eternal peace.
The plot, as it is started, is served through beautiful and terribly pathos videos, explaining only the general essence of what is happening. In general, their task here is simply to catch up with the atmosphere and pathos so that the player does not forget where he is.
However, we will move away from the beauties of the screensavers and move on to something more significant. In the end, not for the sake of the history of Diablo, people are ready to spend tens and hundreds of hours, once again killing King Liorik, Mephisto or the master of the underworld from the coils of the coil. So let’s talk about the structure of the new game act. Firstly, it is worth noting that, unlike the last two episodes of the original game, Reaper of Souls not for its passage will require by no means a couple of hours, which pleases.
And during this time we will be able to visit many memorable places: to run along the streets of Westmarsh, take a walk along the gloomy swamps of the dark forest and even study the fortress of the pandemics and its environs, where grandiose battles between angels and demons once took place. And to the scenery, as before, it is almost impossible to complain – artists Blizzard Continue to create fascinating and extremely atmospheric locations on a far from the most progressive engine.
It is also worth noting that the degree of self -digging/fan service (emphasized the necessary) has decreased. There will be only one riddle borrowed from Diablo II, And that is refined and disguised.
Secondly, there is a huge number of side events that are played out like quests. Either a black rite is held in the basement of the house, then the girl is looking for a necklace, then the necromancer tries to help us, then the damned chest will come across. Moreover, several of these events in Westmarsha are united into a separate plot arch about the overthrow of the king from the throne, which is for the series Diablo Very uncharacteristic.
Well forgotten old
Well, now about the most important – about gameplay innovations and a new game class. Although there is nothing special to talk about the crusader – this is a kind of rethinking of the good old paladin with some displacement of accents in “pumping” and weapons, because he prefers the chain to the Bulavs and scepter. That’s all the differences. In general, this is a great class, balanced and interesting. In addition to this, a completely standard increase in the maximum level and new skills for the old classes were brought.
In general, with regard to skills, those who have not launched the third part for a long time will be pleasantly surprised by the corrected Paragon 2 development system.0 and an updated generation system of objects falling out of monsters – Loot 2.0.
If you do not go into details, then Paragon 2.0 Partially returns the players control over the “pumping” of the character, replacing the previous levels of the paragon with the glasses of this very paragon that can be spent on various meaningful amplifiers instead of the previous “3% more gold”. Moreover, it is important, the paragon glasses are attached to the account, not to the character, and they can always be reset and somehow redistribute them.
And with the loot 2.0 is still simpler-it increases the chances of falling out of something legendary and relevant for a particular hero, as well as rebansion of the characteristics of many legendary things. True, from now on, even the indicators of one object are not tied to it once and for all, because a new artisan appeared in the city, who can change them.
Adventure Time 2.0!
However, the main highlight Reaper of Souls, Perhaps there is a completely new mode. One of the problems Diablo (and any similar game) has always been the lack of auto -adjustment of the enemy level at the player’s level, as a result of which the return to the already passed and cleaned locations was absolutely meaningless. On the one hand, this, of course, serves for the benefit of the narrative and spurks go forward, and not get stuck in one convenient place and “farm” experience, however, when you pass it by 3-5 times, the plot already does not give a damn and I want whatever-The variety.
Here, a new adventure mode comes to the rescue, in which all portals and all locations are available to the hero from the first second. Moreover, access to it opens after the game completely and completely passes at least one character. In other words, having gained access to the “adventures” by one hero, then you can then get another and immediately go to kill them Diablo. Right at the first level.
In order to jump between the locations, it was fun and interesting, almost every of them set up a special assignment- in fact, just a local quest: “kill 100 monsters”, “cleanse the cave”, “find and open the chest”, “chopping off your head-that particularly strong „and everything is like that. You can, of course, ignore these tasks, but they give a lot of experience and gold for their implementation.
However, the so -called “non -factalem portals” became the quintessence of this regime – special multi -level locations where the most powerful monsters live and you can find the most valuable loot. The uniqueness of these places lies in the fact that they are assembled by the map generator in the most bizarre combinations and without any restrictions. That is, in one such portal, elements of the dungeons, tombs, nrokes, battlefields and in general environment from various acts and in absolutely “vinaigrette” order can be combined. This was done again not for considerations of the logicality of building this kind of “dungeon”, but to make them extremely diverse and non -casual.
If you look globally, then Reaper of Souls makes with the original third part the same thing that at one time did Lord of Destruption With Diablo II – Modes, grinds, diversifies and enriches the game in every sense, without changing its essence. And that’s good. And even wonderful. The only problem is that in the dry remainder we are just a fifth act and a new game regime for 40 bucks/900 rubles. Therefore, „commendable“, not „amazing“.
Pros: does Diablo III more diverse, more interesting, longer ..
Cons: … and almost twice as expensive.
